location.
This recently renovated traditional village house is hidden away in
a maze of winding old streets and not far from the village church
that dates back to the 13th century. The village also has several
roman ruins and visigoth tombs. |

high above the rooftops (view right), with superb, panoramic south
facing views of the village and way out into the surrounding countryside.
Ideal for sunbathing or wiling away those long summer evenings with
a bottle of the local wine!

Tourbes and the surrounding
area
The medieval village of Tourbes is ideally situated amongst
the endless vineyards, away from the thriving tourist trail,
yet within easy reach of the long sandy Meditteranean beaches.

The village has all the amenities that
you will need: traditional butcher, bakery, a good grocery
store and newsagent, a hairdresser and chemist. And of course,
café and restaurant, all just a gentle stroll from
the doorstep. |

|
|
Nearby, the charming town of Pézenas (3 miles) has a
wider choice of shops and many superb restaurants. Don't miss
the famous Saturday market that fills the streets (photo right).
Also, two large supermarkets and many opportunities to taste
and purchase wine straight from the vignerons.

A 25 minutes drive takes you into the mountains, or lac de Salagou
- ideal for swimming, sailing, and wind-surfing.
It's also only about 25-30 minutes drive to the nearest Mediterranean
beaches. The nearest is at Vias Plage, a very
popular holiday resort. A newly renovated beach and lagoon area
means it's ideal for children.

Slightly further afield, the unforgettable
Pont du Gard, the fortified city of Carcassonne, Avignon and
the Camargue make great days out. For the children, the giant
water park with slides and pool, AquaLand at nearby Cap d'Agde
will keep them amused for hours. All other activities in close
proximity to Tourbes; water-sports, golf, tennis, bike hire,
walking, horse-riding. |
