Roujan is a charming, quiet village about 6km
from Pezenas. The village has all the usual amenities you would
expect in a small community. There is a collection of shops,
including an excellent boucherie who offers first class products,
all from local suppliers. The photo right shows the fountain
in Roujan outside the Hotel de Ville.
The village is surrounded by vineyards, which is the main source
of employment. An extremely rural village which slows down time
and makes the holiday longer.
|
|
The area lies between the mountains and
the sea, with a great variety of scenery all within easy driving.
The nearest large town is the historic town of Pézenas,
very popular with tourists seeking the old France.
The town has many 16 & 17C buildings and today is a flourishing
centre of the wine and spirit trade. It is picturesque and
unusual, with a fine array of houses, hotels and shops, now
occupied by a variety of craftsmen. |

|
A 25 minutes drive takes you into the mountains, or lac de Salagou
- ideal for swimming, sailing, and wind-surfing.
It's also only about 25-30 minutes drive to the nearest Mediterranean
beaches. The nearest is at Vias Plage, a very
popular holiday resort. A newly renovated beach and lagoon area
means it's ideal for children.
|
|
A further 5 minute drive takes you to Cap d'Adge and
the many beaches, bars and restaurants of this famous resort.
Photo below shows the marina at Cap d'Agde. With 14 km of
golden sandy beaches, each offering something different, you're
never tired of something to do. Windsurfing, banana boat rides,
pedalos, para-gliding and all the normal seaside activities
are available. |
|
| |
|
| All the beaches are easy to
reach, and each beach has it's own parking facilities, and
many also have small bars, cafés and shops. There is
also the very popular quayside area, with lots of bars and
restaurants, many of which have live bands during the evenings.
