The gîte is situated at a height of 900 mtrs in the beautiful Campan valley close to the biggest ski area in the Pyrénées & the famous Pic de Midi accessed by cable car year round.
There are mountain views all around the house which has versatile accommodation with one large family bedroom with double bed & bunks but we can provide an extra single bed or cot if required(i.e. couple with 3 children)
As an optional extra we can extend the gîte to include an extra double room with balcony and full bathroom with shower over, WC etc.

Outside is very open and beautiful with splendid mountain views from each room, your terrace, or from the pool, the 6 person hot tub is next to your terrace so you also have wonderful views from here unless it is dark as with après ski when you can stargaze instead with a glass of vin chaud or wine, and rest those aching limbs.

This area is a paradise for walkers and cyclists with the tour de France actually coming past the house, we are situated close to the col de Tourmalet which is one way to Lourdes and the Holy Shrine (photo below left), worth a visit whilst you are here and about 35 mins by car, the views from the col are breathtaking.10 mins by car the other way brings you to col d`Aspin, the tour de France usually comes into this area that way before climbing to Tourmalet.
Col d`Aspin also has high mountain views (photo below right) and is one way to the small pretty town of Arreau on the way to St Larry (another big ski area) and the tunnel through to Spain, again about 35 mins from here.
More locally we have walking in this valley or into the valleys either side without getting into your car. Horse riding, tennis and golf are all close by (superb views between shots I'm told). Our nearest shop is in St Marie de Campan, a village 2 klms away which has a shop with a bar which sells all you need, and a hotel with a restaurant, there is another hotel with a restaurant about a 5 min walk away.
If swinging through the tress or over a high waterfall is your bag (not for the faint hearted) there are 2 close by. Bagneres de Bigorre, our nearest town which is 10 mins by car has many shops & bars, also a casino, spa with gym & treatments, and a Saturday market which you may enjoy.

Quite apart from the places mentioned, if you would like to go further afield we are in the middle of the high Pyrénées so both coasts are accessible, the Med being about 31/2 hours and the Atlantic & Biarritz area about 2 hours - photo of famous Biarritz Hotel de Palais shown right.
A little closer by car are an Abbey, Monastery, children's park with boating lake, bob sleigh etc, and a zoo. About a 2 hour drive is a high mountain railway. We have leaflets available for all these and more in the gîte.

By Air:
Ryanair flights are available at favourable rates, the best airports are Pau 1hr 20mins, Lourdes(in winter only for skiing )35mins, Biaritz 1hr 50mins, Carcassonne 2hrs 50mins, Bilbao 180 klms.

By Road:
We are very easy to reach by car with the autoroutes and on to Bagneres de Bigorre, although there is a train and a bus service from Biarritz to Tarbes and another bus to Bagneres de Bigorre. From there after a wait you can get a bus to St Marie de Campan but we would suggest car hire to give you more freedom to explore.

The prices include linen, towels and gas.
Central heating is included in the winter, there is also an independent heater for your use but that will be charged with any electricity at a small charge of 20 centimes per unit on your own meter.

25% deposit will be required with booking, the balance being due 8 weeks prior to arrival.
A breakage deposit of 50 euros is due on arrival, refundable on departure.
A tax of 50 centimes per person is due also on arrival i.e., per couple just 3 euros 50 cent per week (ex children under 13 yrs)
