There are numerous shops, bars and restaurants just 2 mins
walk away in the historic town centre. Whether you want
to relax on one of its 3 beaches or for the more active
there are water sports then Lac St Pardoux
(photo below left) has it all.
Just south of Limoges there is a zoological park which offers
a good day out for all the family. Near the Airport of Limoges
is Parc Bellvue which offers attractions
for all the family. If you fancy a round a golf, then there
is a golf course at Mortermart (10Km) or
at Saint Junien. Limoges
is a quaint historical city well worth a visit. It produces
over 50% of the porcelain made in France and is the birthplace
of Renoir.
On Saturday the 10th of June 1944 soldiers of the SS Panzer
Division entered the village of Oradour-sur-Glane
and killed a total of 642 men, women and children without
giving any reasons. The ruins of the martyred village (photo
below right) have been preserved as a reminder of the German
barbarity.
The Limousin is know for its beautiful countryside and lakes
where you can ride or walk to your hearts content. Or just
stop at the pretty villages on the way for a drink and soak
up the French atmosphere
