The house is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac on the western edge of the village, a short walk from the village centre, and enjoys splendid, uninterrupted views over the neighbouring vineyards and countryside from all its rooms and terraces.

There are pleasant gardens back and front and guests are welcome to use them should they wish. A view of the pool (below left) and the terrace area at night, very inviting to sit around the table chatting over a glass of wine or just right for a late night swim.

La Cardabela is located on the edge of the lovely village of Margon in the Languedoc – Roussillon region of South-west France. Typical of the Languedoc Region, Margon is a village of around 400 inhabitants, many of whom are still occupied in some capacity in the production of the local wines.

Although the effect of modernisation is bringing Languedoc-Roussillon more into line with the rest of France, the area still strikes the visitor as being distinctly different. Medieval fantasies exist everywhere in the shape of small towns, walled cities and ruined fortresses bearing the memory of past bloody religious battles.

Conveniently located in the heart of the countryside, Margon is just an hour’s drive from the regional capital of Montpellier. The city has managed to bridge the old with the new, with the historic old town blending in with the new development called the Antigon.

This development begins at the central Place de la Comedie and continues down to the Regional Parliament building (photo below left) on the banks of the river Lez.

The historic centres of Agde, and the resort of Cap d'Agde shown in the photo below right are about 30 minutes away. Nimes, Narbonne and Carcassone are also within easy reach and well worth a visit.
