Guests have their own enclosed private garden, complete with patio and arden furniture.

Fishing is allowed in the Grade A river at the side of the property and for the artist in you the gardens and the river are ideal for sketching or painting.

Dampierre-sur-Boutonne: Your nearest village is a short drive away from your cottage and has the advantage of a village shop, a Boulangerie for your fresh baguettes and croissants, Boucherie and a bar/restaurant for reasonably priced meals with local wines. There is a 10th Century Renaissance chateau with the River Boutonne running through it. On the outskirts is a Donkey Sanctuary.


Aulnay: The nearest town where a small but lively market is held every Thursday and Sunday morning. The town provides all your basic requirements; Supermarket, banks, cash machines, restaurants and bars and a chemist. The tourist information office opposite the 12th Century church will provide you with all the additional help you may need for the area.

La Rochelle (photo below left), an old harbour town, together with its world famous aquarium. Relax in one of the countless cafés and restaurants which cluster around the waterfront or explore the Cognac, where all the famous name brandies have their distilleries on the River Charente (you can visit the distilleries, below right).

A delightful town with parks, shops, cafes and markets, boutiques which line the cobbled and arcaded streets of the old town.

Chatelaillon Plage: Our nearest sandy beach with lots of facilities along the promenade. Cafés, shops and restaurants overlooking the beach. A lovely park with crazy golf and other amusements and amenities.

Fouras Plage: Actually four beaches in one town! Together with boat trips to the islands and views towards Fort Boyard
