On entering the property from the parking area, you will find a well equipped kitchen and dining room with a fridge freezer, washing machine, iron and ironing board, microwave and gas cooker.

There is also a cool box and ice packs for days out with a picnic. In the sitting room many original features of the old cow sheds have been retained, there is a comfy sofa which converts into an extra double bed if required, a music centre with a selection of CDs, games, books and brochures relevant to things to do in the area designed to help you plan your holiday.

On the terrace you can barbecue and relax, whilst you enjoy the warm evenings. Upstairs are 2 beautifully furnished bedrooms, one double and one twin bedded.

Each room also has an armchair, hanging space and drawers. A hairdryer is supplied in the double bedded room. An extra single bed or travel cot can be provided where necessary. The bathroom provides a shower over the bath and there is a shaving or electric toothbrush point.

The supermarket is 2 mins in the car and in Gemozac you will find several bakers, a butchers, pharmacie, tabac, post office and restaurants. Market day is Friday and the bread van visits us every day except Sunday. We are lucky to have a restaurant 150 metres walk from the house.

There is an outdoor swimming pool in Gemozac which is open in July and August, tennis courts and a children's playground.

You will find several chateaux in the locality as Pineau, the local brew, is made here. Everywhere you drive you will see vine fields growing the grapes for the Pineau.

The Charente-Maritime region boasts the 2nd most sunny area after the Riviera. There are many lovely places to visit in the area and within 25 minutes of La Grange du Puits you will find several historic towns. Saintes has a 1st century amphitheatre and Jonzac a 15th century chateau. Saintes has a market every day except Monday; however on the 1st Monday of every month there is a grand fair which takes over the whole of the main street and adjacent side streets.

Cognac, on the River Charente, is the home of the distilleries of all brands of Cognac and tours are available to discover how the brew is made. There are organised visits to cognac producers such as Martell (photo right).

Royan is a lovely seaside town (photo above) with a market every day except Monday. You can walk along the vast expanse of sand or just sit in a street cafe and watch the activity.

Many boats are moored here and tours are available along the Gironde Estuary or you can take a ferry across to Verdon sur mer and visit the Medoc area. This area is also perfect for a beach holiday and within 25 minutes you can be on a sandy beach with miles of beautiful sand.

Most beaches are regularly cleaned and most have a cafe. St Georges de Didonne and Royan have plenty of activity throughout the season. If you are looking for surfing then head for the Cote Sauvage, north of Royan, where you will find lots of surf. Further afield there is Bordeaux or La Rochelle and its' surrounding islands, each with interesting and pretty ports and beaches and of course St Emilion famous for the chateaux and endless vineyards. Within 10 minutes you will find several chateaux in the locality, as Pineau the local brew, is made here. Everywhere you drive you will see vine fields growing the grapes for the Pineau.
