Upstairs there are 2 charming bedrooms with exposed beams. One bedroom has a comfortable double bed, whilst the other room (unclosed) has both a double & a single bed. Both have ample storage for clothes etc. Linen can be provided as extra. As the cottage has a fairly steep wooden staircase to the bedrooms it is not really suitable for small children or people with limited mobility!

The whole area is ideal for leisurely cycle rides, walking or even golf as there are several courses nearby, who are pleased to offer non-members the chance to play 9 or 18 holes in stunning locations. There is a good open-air swimming pool at nearby Longue-Jumelles (10-15mins) & a lake & horse riding facilities in nearby villages.

The holiday cottage is near the chateaux & vineyards of the Loire Valley & has easy access to the charming market town of Saumur (photo below), famous for its sparkling wine and its equestrian events.

Wine enthusiasts will be in heaven- it is difficult to recommend which vineyard to visit, or which wine - sparkling Saumur mousseux, crisp Loire whites, racy Anjou roses or fragrant Chinon, Bourgueil & Saumur Champigny reds- to try (we have not had a bad one yet & are still finding new ones!). Of course there are also many good restaurants within easy reach, including several “trogo” restaurants, set dramatically in the tufa rock caves, plus the bars & cafes of Saumur from which to sit relaxing in the sunshine watching the world go by.

Should you prefer to relax “chez vous” at Le P’tit Poirier there is an excellent supermarket at Longué, approx 10 mins drive. You can then take advantage of the well equipped kitchen & the BBQ on the sunny patio, and on those lovely summer evenings, you can star gaze or even look for comets in the clear night skies.
