This comfortable holiday apartment is situated on the outskirts
of Bagnères de Luchon, and this delightful spa town is an
excellent centre for skiing, walking, cycling and even paragliding.

The accommodation comprises of a one double bedroom with
en suite facilities including a shower, wash basin and
W.C. There is a main open plan living room with windows
set in the roof giving it a pleasant light feel.
The living room has a kitchenette with two electric hot
plates, a microwave oven/grill, and fridge. There is also
a dining area with large table and a lounge area with
a sofa bed, two armchairs, TV and radio/CD player. Glazed
patio doors exit onto a balcony with fine views of the
mountains.

There is private parking outside the
apartments and communal storage for bikes, skis etc. Also
visitors have use of the private tennis court.
This comfortable holiday apartment is situated on the outskirts
of Bagnères de Luchon (photo below left), and this
delightful spa town is an excellent centre for skiing, walking,
cycling and even paragliding. It has a good range of bars,
restaurants, shops, a cinema, thermal baths and a casino
yet retaining a peaceful atmosphere in this beautiful valley
setting.

This is the central Pyrénées, it has many
of the highest and most rugged summits in the range, some
topping 3000 metres. These usually snow-capped peaks tower
over lovely wooded valleys with fast flowing rivers.
Bagnères De Luchon
Is a pleasant spa town at the foot of the Central Pyrénées,
approximately 500metres above sea level. It is 140 kilometres
(87 miles) southwest of Toulouse. It is an excellent centre
for outdoor activities such as walking, skiing, paragliding
and cycling. There are ample shops also a casino, swimming
pool, thermal baths and all the usual tourist facilities.
Vallée du Lys
Is a picturesque valley below Superbagnères and accessed
easily from the same mountain road from Luchon. There is
a waterfall at the head.
Hospice de France
Despite its name this is a mountain refuge at the head of
another good mountain road with a car park set amongst the
trees. There are several mountain walks starting from here
to suit all abilities.

Superbagnères
Lies on the end of a ridge some 1000 metres above Luchon
and is a winter ski resort with a large hotel. There is
a cable car from Luchon that runs for skiers in winter and
tourists in the summer season. Also in summer and autumn
you can drive up on an excellent mountain road. This makes
it a good starting point for mountain walks. One excellent
walk is up a steep dramatic valley to the Refuge de Venasque.
From below it looks very steep but there is a good path
all the way. It takes about 3 hours to make the climb. You
can continue up to the Spanish border that follows the main
ridge of The Pyrenées.

| Superbagnères
is one of the smaller ski stations in France, so has a very
relaxed atmosphere. There are 35km of marked downhill pistes.
With skiing above 2,000 metres snow cover is generally reliable.
The skiing is suitable for all levels and there are very good
ski school facilities.
Snowboarders will enjoy the Snowpark. Snow shoeing excursions,
telemark and sleigh rides are available. There are 35Km of
runs with 24 pistes: 6 black, 6 red, 9 blue, 3 green and 4km
cross-country.

Some other places of interest
There are many other places worth a visit including the
Larboust valley that leads to The Col de Peyresourde from
where there is a lovely ridge walk over several gentle grassy
summits. A trip over the Col de Viehla to Spain is a must.
Just a few kilometres over the border is Bossost set beside
a river. It has some good shops. Also a few kilometres south
the village of Es Bordes is well worth a visit.

Travel By Air
Toulouse International Airport (Blagnac) is the most convenient
airport from which to get to Bagnères de Luchon.
Several budget airlines
go there from a number of airports, see table below.
Here there are good car hire facilities with Hertz, Avis and Europecar
having offices at the airport.
Alternatively you could fly to Pau and Perpignan. Ryanair runs daily
flights
at very attractive prices to Pau and Perpignan from Stansted.

By Car
There are many options for routes by car from the UK using
the cross channel ferries or tunnel. The choice of route
to the Pyrénées obviously depends on your
point of entry into France. From most French ports it is
best to head towards the city of Toulouse. We will supply
you with directions to our apartment in Bagnères
de Luchon from Toulouse before you travel.
