“La Petite Glycine” lies
within the beautiful grounds and gardens of a traditional
French Farmhouse. The Gîte is an annexe to the main house
and has been converted
to a high standard retaining much of the original charm and character
but with the addition of all the modern comforts!
Situated in an extremely peaceful and tranquil setting on the edge
of a small hamlet surrounded by fields of corn, sunflowers and Parthenaise
cattle being a breed of the region. Only 5 minutes walk to the Château
de Coudray-Salbart - a well preserved 13th century fortress overlooking
the meandering Sèvres-Niortaise river and traditional wash-house.

Echiré village, famous worldwide for it’s
butter, is just 5 minutes drive (2km) and offers a large
Super-U supermarket, with bakery, fresh fish, delicatessen
and petrol forecourt, pharmacy, riding school/ pony club.

The Gîte has recently been refurbished and awarded
4 STARS by the Comité Départmental de Tourisme.
Tastefully decorated, it offers light and spacious accommodation.
Large open-plan Kitchen, Dining Area & Lounge
with original old bread oven. The new and fully equipped
kitchen offers dishwasher, 4 ring electric hob and oven/grill,
fridge, microwave.
Large pine dining table and chairs, 3 seater sofa, armchair, HD TNT television (French channels....soon with English channels) with DVD , CD/alarm/radio, Wi-fi internet access for your laptop or pocket PC.
A selection of books and videos are provided. Electric radiators
in all rooms provide instant heat for cooler days. Door
opening onto the lawned garden.

| Double Bedroom
with double sprung sofa bed, pine wardrobe and 2 chests of
drawers, hairdryer. This room has a lavender hedge outside
the window and over-looks your lawned garden area with the
unusual Paulownia (foxglove tree) providing shade during the
hotter months.
Pretty Single Bedroom with
single bed or bunk beds, hanging space,
wicker 3-drawer unit and access to the terrace. Spacious Bathroom
with mirrored double basin vanity unit, shaver point,
towel rail, w.c., bath and shower with fitted glass shower
screen.
Utility Room with washing machine, patio
table, chairs & parasol, BBQ, iron, ironing board, washing
line. Plenty of storage space for bicycles. Ample parking
for 2 cars, independent entrance, patio area and small lawned
area for your own use.

| Pool Area– large rectangular pool (30ft x 15ft) sheltered by the vast old stone barn having steps down to the shallow area and gently sloping to the deep end with fitted hard security cover for under 5's compling with the French law.
Brick built BBQ, Games Room with full sized table tennis table, table foot, darts board, basketball net. Ample lawned areas with 12ft trampoline and space to play badmington, boule, etc.
Outside
benches, table, chairs, sunbeds and a magnificent mulberry
tree acting as a parasol to provide shade in the heat of the
day. This is the second sunniest region of France with over
2,500 hours of sunshine per year!
Large walled and secluded landscaped gardens with an abundance of roses and flowering shrubs.
In April/May the perfume from the 2 wisterias, lilac trees and unusual Paulownia (foxglove tree) is gorgeous and the only sounds to be heard are from the woodpecker, hoopoe bird, redstart, black redstart and many others.
An ideal place to relax and re-charge your batteries away from the hustle, bustle and stress of everyday life. However, if you are feeling a little homesick, afternoon tea with a selection of homemade cakes can be served! (at an additional cost).

The historic town of Niort, with its’ daily large
covered food market, dungeon and excellent pedestrianised
shopping centre is 15 minutes drive (11km) and offers a
large selection of restaurants to suit all tastes.
Explore the labyrinth of inland waterways by traditional
punt and the charming waterside villages of the Marais Poitevin
(also known as “Green Venice” which is within
20 minute’s drive – 15 km). The area is perfect
for walking and cycling, both on road and cross country
and there are many trails available to explore. Visit the
elegant seaside resort of La Rochelle - an hour’s
drive (photo below left) with a large Aquarium & Museum
of Mechanical Models. The gorgeous island of Ile de Re with it's sandy beaches and pretty harbours is accessible within minutes.

Take the children to Futurscope at Poitiers – an amazing
cinema park which is dedicated to the moving image or Puy
du Fou for a voyage in time – gladiators, Vikings,
medieval city, market town, & biggest stage in the world
with extravagant technical effects and 1,000 actors!
Fresh water world of Pescalis with aquariums and aquatic
garden, Mining Centre at Faymoreau,The Forest of Adventure
at la Chapelle-St-Etienne, Mouton village at Vasles –
dedicated to sheep, Silver Mines, Aboretum and Abbey at
Melle, Roman remains at Saintes. There are numerous other
historic towns and places to visit providing ample entertainment
for both adults and children.

Golf enthusiasts have a choice of two 18-hole Golf Courses –
Golf du Petit Chêne, at Mazières en Gâtine
is 15 minutes drive and offers a very pretty Par 72 course set
amidst 63 hectares of wooded parklands and lakes with an impressive
Chateau offering a bar and restaurant. Under cover practice
area, putting green, further practice area, pro-shop.
Le Golf Club de Niort (Par 71) is situated on the outskirts
of Niort town and offers practice areas, training bunkers, putting
green, pitch & putt, pro-shop, bar, brasserie & restaurant.

By Air:
Approximately 1½ hour’s drive to the property, you can fly into Nantes from Gatwick via BA and Air France.
Ryanair have a service to Nantes from Stansted Also flights from Southampton to La Rochelle via Flybe and Stansted to Poitiers and La Rochelle via Ryanair.

By Road:
The property is easily found and accessible from the A10 from Poitiers and A83 (E5) from Nantes to Bordeaux and makes an ideal stop-over for those going further South.
Take the ferry from Portsmouth to St.Malo and the drive would take approx. 3hrs18 non-stop or from Caen 4hrs13. |

All prices are per week, start dates do not necessarily
have to be Saturday-Saturday. (There is a no smoking policy
in the Gîte and sorry but pets are not accepted).
LONG WINTER LETS AVAILABLE – ideal
for house-hunters, golfers or winter break.

Electricity and a Final Cleaning are included in the price
(pool towels and an additional cleaning service available
at an extra price).
All bedding (duvets, pillows) and bed linen (sheets, duvet
covers and pillow cases) and in cooler weather – blankets
are provided.
Towels are included but pool towels are extra.
All bed linen & towels are changed weekly.
English Teas with home-made cakes …mmm delicious –
how do we survive without them!
