The gîte is located in Marsais
Ste Radegonde, in south Vendée.
In a small Vendée village situated near the Mervent-Vouvant
forest and not far from Fontenay le Comte and the Marais Poitevin.
The gîte accommodates 5 people and has 2 bedrooms, bathroom
and open plan kitchen area, lounge with double futon and dining
area. There are two shared pools, indoors and outdoors, which you
can use about 5 minutes drive away on a pretty complex.
Ideal for a holiday or thinking of buying property in the Vendee,
then this is a great base. |

| There are 2 bedrooms,
a modern bathroom and a large open plan kitchen/lounge/diner.
All have been recently renovated to a high standard. |
| Kitchen
Area. There is a full kitchen with gas cooker, fridge,
microwave, washing machine and all utensils. |
| Lounge/Dining
Room Area. The lounge area has 2 sofas (1 of which
is a futon), and 2 armchairs, and a dining table. There are
a selection of books, DVDs, Videos, and board games. |

Bathroom. The bathroom has a large bath with shower
attachment, toilet and sink.
Bedrooms. One with double bed and
the other has twin beds. Both rooms have beautiful oak beams.
Linen is provided but no towels.
There is use of a garden with BBQ area, ideal for eating outside
in the long hot summer evenings. |

The Vendée benefits from its
own microclimate, with more hours of sunshine than much
of the rest of France. Our nearest large town is
Fontenay Le Comte which is a 10 minute drive away, and used
to be the capital of the Vendée.
There is a bar in St Martins Des Fontaines
which is about 1 mile away which serves food and takeaway
pizza. L’Hermenault is only 5 minutes away and has
a bakery, butcher, hairdresser, grocery shop, bank, post
office, pharmacy.

The Vendée’s long, sandy beaches offer sailing,
surfing, swimming and fishing. With the comforting undulations
of its dunes of near-white sand, and the untamed assertiveness
of its rocky escarpments beaten by the winds and waves of
the Atlantic Ocean, the coastline of the Vendée stretches
for 250 km, of which 140 km are beaches of fine sand.

LA ROCHELLE (photo right) is arguably the most
attractive and unspoiled town on France's Atlantic seaboard. In
a history stretching almost 1,000 years, it has been a fishing port
and industrial centre; today it is best known as a resort.
PESCALIS (www.pescalis.com)
The international nature and angling centre in Moncoutant invites
fishermen, families and nature lovers to enjoy the fresh air on
the shores of its specially managed lakes set between forest and
meadows. Experienced anglers or beginners can choose between various
angling areas.

PUY DU FOU
(www.puydufou.com)
is well worth a visit (photo left). By
day there is a theme park which includes mediaeval jousting,
villages with traditional crafts and actors dressed in the
period of the day. The highlight is a twice daily display
of falconry!
By night during the summer Puy de Fou is renowned for holding
France's foremost Son et Lumière spectacle. Every show
is sold out in the height of summer, but tickets can be booked
in advance. |

MERVENT (www.tourisme-sudvendee.com)is
only a short drive ride from L'Hermenault, it has a dam
and a large reservoir. The area has been developed with
tourism in mind. There are large wooded areas ideal for
walking and particularly mountain biking. There are places
where pedalos and wind surfers can be hired, and wind surfing
lessons are offered at reasonable rates. There are also
restaurants, a small zoo and a very extensive fun park known
as 'Pierre Brune'
FUTUROSCOPE (www.futuroscope.com)
is situated near Poitiers, it combines latest cinematic
developments with the entertainment and fun of a theme park.
There are a dozen or so main attractions.
VENISE VERT - a network of kilometres of
canals, covering 15,000 hectares. Rent a barge with, or
without, a guide or even a canoe to take you farther. Cycle
rental locations allow you to cover the whole area or even
ride on horseback from the equestrian centres

Ideally situated in the Southern Vendée,
La Rochelle Airport (45 mins) and Poiters Airport (1 hr) drive away.

| The owners are
on site and B&B and evening meals are available on certain
days. Please ask for details when booking.
Long term rental (more than 4 weeks) will
be subject to discount.
Use of Pool - it is 5 minutes drive away on a pretty complex
with pool table and beautiful grounds. You are asked to be
considerate to the clients staying at this complex.

Changeover
day is Saturday to Saturday. You are asked to leave the property
as you found it by 10am. Arrival is 4pm. If you require to
start your holiday on another day, we will try and accommodate
you.
Towels are NOT provided.

A security deposit is also necessary in the form of a separate
cheque for £100 (150 euros), this will be returned or
destroyed once we have confirmed the property has not sustained
unacceptable damage.
Linen is provided. Electric heating, taxes,
all fuel and power included in rent May-Sept, £35 (50
euros) supplement Oct-April.
