Three 17th
century restored farmhouses located in the Confolens area
of the Charente, ideally placed between the Atlantic coast
and the forested mountains of the Limousin, and within easy
reach of Poitiers, Limoges and Angouleme.
The farmhouses are situated in a quiet hamlet, Chez Mesnier,
surrounded by unspoilt countryside and in one of the most
stunning locations in the Charente with spectacular views
of the River Vienne.
The farmhouses were built in 1603, and this was always the
major consideration during the restoration. Reclaimed materials
and traditional building methods were used to repair and
reinstate many features. There are enormous oak beams, traditional
Charentais open fireplaces, exposed stone and tiled floors.

Accommodation in each farmhouse is for 6 people, with 3
bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, lounge and dining areas and a fully
equipped kitchen. These farmhouses are set in one acre of
land with large 10 x 5 m swimming pool.

10 x 5 m swimming pool, and are surrounded by acres of unspoilt
countryside. The garden is south facing, so benefits from
the sun all day long. Each house has its own barbeque and
outside seating area, and there is plenty of other garden
furniture placed in secluded areas of the grounds.
Sit in the heat of the evening sun,
looking at the River Vienne (at this point more than 80
metres wide), with a glass of pineau in your hand and watch
the cows as they take their evening stroll across the fields.

The area around Confolens contains many typical French villages
with medieval quarters, local markets, chateaux, old churches
and lakes with beaches - perfect for swimming or just for
relaxing. Manot also boasts a very small beach by the ruins
of the old mill. Here, the beds of the local river contain
minute deposits of gold and garnet for which you can prospect
whilst paddling in the cool clear water. For the more ambitious
it is one of the starting points for the canoe school, where
you can paddle up river to Confolens.

a number of other small regional airlines fly to Angouleme and Poitiers.

| Booking ‘weeks’
are Saturday 16.00 to Saturday 10.00. We ask that guests leave
the accommodation before 10.00 and new guests arrive after
16.00.
The houses are available throughout the year and can be booked
individually or as a group of three.
All bedding (duvets, pillows) and bed linen (sheets, duvet
covers and pillow cases) is provided. We ask that guests bring
their own towels.

A security deposit
of £150 on each property is payable by the client with
the balance of the total cost.
The deposit is held by the owners against any damage, breakage
or loss or additional cleaning costs over and above that normally
acceptable which occurs during the client's occupancy.
Please note that bookings are taken on a first-come-first-served
basis, so book early to avoid disappointment.

based guests, payment can now be accepted in Euros.
