Refurbished Rural Gite with pool in Aude and Pyrenees Orientales
Recently refurbished rural gite with swimming pool set in splendid surroundings on the borders of the Aude and Pyrenees Orientales departments. Sleeps 6+2

The gite is part of a property comprising three separate gites (the other two sleeping 2+1 in each).

La Redouniere is set in approx 50 acres of beautiful wild countryside with superb views everywhere, including views of the Chateau de Peyrepertuse that is situated above the property.

The Gite
Accommodation comprises a large open and light sitting/dining room with French doors to both the garden and a private terrace.

There is a well equipped kitchen with gas oven/hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher etc and three good size double bedrooms. The décor is simple but attractive with traditional terracotta tiling and white walls with original paintings by a local artist, throughout.


 



There is a large dining table with chairs, comfortable bed settee and several easy chairs – the emphasis is on informal and comfortable living.

There is modern bathroom with separate shower cubicle (photo left).

There is also a woodburning stove for use in the winter and cooler autumn evenings.

 
   
Outside there is a private terrace with table and chairs, barbeque and lovely views over the Verdouble valley, a beautiful spot to sit in the evening with a glass of wine in your hand to watch the sun going down behind the Pic de Bugarach.

In the garden is a swimming pool area with loungers, tables and chairs. The pool is shared with the two other smaller gites. There are also a trampoline, ping-pong table and bikes. There is ample parking.


   

The property is reached by a track that is approx 1 km long. In the grounds there are miles of tracks including one to the hidden Pierrepergesse, a little known keep to Peyrepertuse.

It is possible to walk from the garden to Peyrepertuse but it is quite a hard climb!


 
   

In the local villages (left, photo of Duilhac) are potteries, artists’ studios, restaurants, shops and wineries. Other things to do in the area include visits to the many castles, vineyards, and abbeys.

Visits to the town of Lagrasse, the Dali museum just over the border, in Spain, the spectacular Pyrenees, Ceret, the sea, the list of places to visit is endless. You can also walk the many signposted routes, do white water rafting, and pony trekking and swim in the local rivers.

 

 
   
The most famous attractions in the area are Carcassonne with its magnificent walled medieval city dominating the countryside, a wonderful day out, many shops and restaurants, but often open air concerts and opera, son et lumiere and fireworks.

Perpignan, with its famous Castillet (photo below), is very close, as are the many resorts, including St Cyprien and Argeles-sur-mer with their long sandy beaches.



   

The picturesque fishing port of Collioure (photo below right) is a ‘must visit’ place. Here, local Catalan style fishing boats tie up by the quay and you can get excellent fish dishes served at the many pavement cafes and restaurants.
   






 

The property is in Languedoc
 
La Redouniere is situated between the villages of Soulatge and Rouffiac des Corbieres.

It is approx 45 mins from Perpignan international airport, approx 50 mins from the Mediterranean and in the heart of Cathare country with its medieval castles, towns and villages and its associations with the Holy Grail.

Spain and Andorra are also close by.


   

It is situated at 450m above sea level, 1km from the D14 which runs past the Chateau de Queribus, the villages of Cucugnan and Duilhac sous Peyrepertuse and then on down through the spectacular limestone Gorge de Galamus with its hermitage, to the market town of St Paul de Fenouillet.

 

 







 
Helpful Information

Rental weeks are from 1600 Saturday to 1000 Saturday. We hope that guests will leave the gite in a clean and tidy state but a clean up is available at an extra 50 0 €, payable on site.


Mobile ‘phone coverage is generally good in the area.

Linen and bath towels are provided free of charge. Please bring your own beach towels.

There is a laundry room available where there is also a larger freezer.

The property is open all year.

Prices

The cost to book the gite for up to 8 people is shown right. The price shown is the total rental for the week, NOT per person.

Prices are for one week and include electricity. A 10% reduction is made for the second week of a two week booking.

A 15% deposit is payable in either sterling or euros at the time of booking. The full sum is payable at least 8 weeks prior to the start of the holiday. Payable in French euro or sterling cheque.
